location: Minnedosa, Manitoba 

Objectives:

To create a modern home design with minimal environmental impact which could be built by the homeowner.

Results:

The new home is nestled into the slope of the land to take advantage of the insulating value of the earth on the north side.  On the south side the large overhanging roof is designed to take full advantage of solar heat in the winter while protecting the view windows from summer sun.
